RateGold (“we”, “the app”) is an offline-friendly exchange-rate and gold-price board published by the RateGold project. This policy explains what information the app handles and what we do not collect.
Summary
- No registration, login, or user profiles
- No advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs in v1.0
- No sale of personal data
- Preferences and cached rates stay on your device
Information stored on your device
The app saves the following locally so it works offline:
- Your language preference
- Base currency and favorite currency list
- Cached exchange-rate and gold-price snapshots
- Timestamp of the last successful sync
This data is stored in the app’s private storage on your phone (SharedPreferences and app documents). We do not receive copies of this data on our servers because we operate no backend for RateGold v1.0.
Network use & third-party services
When you are online and refresh rates, the app may contact:

Frankfurter API (frankfurter.app)
— to download public reference exchange rates. Requests include currency codes
(for example
from=USD&to=PHP,INR), not your name, email, or device identifiers we control. - Google Fonts (fonts.google.com) — to download the Inter typeface files used in the UI. Google’s servers may receive standard connection data (such as IP address) under their own policies.
Gold prices in v1.0 are derived from bundled seed data combined with synced FX rates; we do not send your personal information to a gold-price vendor.
Information we do not collect
- Name, email, phone number, or government ID
- Precise location or contacts
- Photos, files, or messages
- Payment or bank-account details
- Advertising identifiers for tracking
Permissions
- Internet — sync public rates and load fonts
- Network state — show online / offline status
The app does not request location, camera, microphone, or contacts access.
Children
RateGold is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data retention & deletion
Local data remains until you clear the app’s storage or uninstall the app. Android: Settings → Apps → RateGold → Storage → Clear data.
Changes
We may update this policy when the app changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change accordingly. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Exchange rates and gold prices shown in RateGold are for general information only. They are not investment advice, bank quotes, remittance rates, or offers to buy or sell gold or foreign currency.
Always confirm prices with your bank, money-transfer provider, or jeweller before transacting.
Sources: FX from Frankfurter (ECB reference data). Gold spot values from bundled reference data updated at sync time and converted using synced FX where applicable.
